FAQ's
What is a Professional Life Coach?
A Professional Life Coach provides a supportive, non-judgmental space to help you gain greater clarity about where you are, what matters to you, and where you want to go.
Coaching is a collaborative process. Together, we explore what may be keeping you stuck or uncertain, identify patterns and perspectives that may no longer be serving you, and develop practical steps that help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust.
What types of people have Life Coaches?
People seek coaching at many different stages of life. Some are navigating a significant change or transition. Others feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or pulled in different directions. And sometimes life may look fine from the outside, yet something within no longer feels quite right.
Coaching can be especially helpful for people who are ready to take a closer look at where they are, explore what they want, and take an active role in creating what comes next.
How can Life Coaching help?
Life coaching can help you step away from the noise and reconnect with what matters most to you.
Depending on what brings you to coaching, our work may help you clarify what you want, understand what is contributing to feeling stuck or overwhelmed, recognize patterns that influence your choices, explore different perspectives, and identify practical next steps.
The goal is not for me to tell you what to do. It is to help you hear yourself more clearly so you can make choices and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
What happens in a Life Coaching Session?
Each session is shaped by your individual needs and what is most important to you at that time.
We may explore what has been happening since our previous session, what feels most important now, and any obstacles or insights that have emerged. Together, we can look at different perspectives, clarify what you want, and identify realistic next steps.
When appropriate, I may suggest exercises or practices between sessions to help you continue exploring and integrating what we uncover in our work together.
Do I really need a personal Coach?
Can't I just do it by myself?
Of course you can navigate change and make important decisions on your own. Coaching isn't about assuming that you can't.
Sometimes, however, it is difficult to see clearly when you are standing in the middle of your own situation. You may find yourself going over the same thoughts repeatedly, questioning your decisions, or feeling unsure about which direction to take.
A coach offers an objective perspective and a dedicated space to slow things down, explore what is happening beneath the surface, and reconnect with your own clarity.
How is Coaching different from Therapy?
Life coaching and therapy can both provide meaningful support, but they serve different purposes.
Coaching is forward-focused and centers on where you are now, what you want to change or create, and the steps that can help you move forward. Past experiences may come into the conversation when they help illuminate a current pattern, but coaching is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
Therapy is provided by licensed mental health professionals and may include diagnosis and treatment of psychological or emotional conditions.
If needs arise that are outside the scope of coaching, I may recommend seeking support from an appropriate licensed professional.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a coaching session.
Sessions missed without prior cancellation, or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, are considered used and are not refundable.
How long do people generally work with a Life Coach?
The length of a coaching relationship varies depending on the individual and what they would like to accomplish.
For clients who want ongoing support, I offer a structured coaching package that allows us to work together consistently over a period of time. Individual coaching sessions may also be appropriate depending on your needs.
We can discuss which option makes the most sense for you during an introductory consultation.
Is personal Life Coaching confidential?
Yes. What you share during our coaching sessions is treated as confidential and will not be shared with others except as required by law or as otherwise described in your coaching agreement.
Coaching conversations are not legally privileged in the same way that certain communications with licensed healthcare or legal professionals may be.
What should I look for when choosing a Life Coach?
Choosing a coach is a very personal decision. Credentials and experience matter, but so does how you feel when you speak with that person.
Look for someone who:
-
Listens carefully and seeks to understand you.
-
Creates an environment in which you feel comfortable sharing what’s on your mind.
-
Respects your ability to make your own choices.
-
Helps you see possibilities and perspectives you may not have considered.
-
Can translate insight into practical next steps.
-
Encourages growth without imposing their own agenda.
-
Feels like someone you can trust and work with openly.
A coaching relationship should ultimately help you become more connected to your own clarity and self-trust—not more dependent upon your coach.
